Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2, 2026
This policy explains what information MagicMeter collects, why, and how it's used. MagicMeter is developed as an independent app by GV Development; if you have questions about this policy or your data, contact guido.4thfloor@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Account data. You can use MagicMeter anonymously, in which case we store a device-scoped account identifier and no personal details. If you choose to create an account, we store the email address you provide, via our backend provider, Supabase.
- Meter and reading data. The meters you set up and the readings you record (values, timestamps, optional notes) are stored against your account so they sync across your devices.
- Meter photos. When you use the photo-scan feature, the photo you capture is sent to our AI reading-extraction provider, OpenRouter, solely to suggest a meter value — it is not retained on our servers after processing. If you choose to save the photo to your device's photo library, that copy stays on your device only and is never uploaded anywhere by MagicMeter.
- Usage and device data. Our analytics and crash-reporting services (Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics) automatically collect certain technical information, including your device's IP address, mobile operating system, general usage patterns such as the screens you visit and time spent in the app, and crash diagnostics. This data is used solely to improve app stability and understand usage at an aggregate level.
Cookies and tracking technologies
The app and its third-party SDKs may use identifiers and similar technologies to support analytics and ad delivery. Where required by applicable law, we obtain your consent before using non-essential tracking technologies (see Advertising below).
Advertising
MagicMeter shows ads served by Google AdMob to help cover running costs, and offers an optional rewarded ad in exchange for additional AI photo scans once your free monthly allowance is used. Before any ad is requested, we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to gather your consent choice where required by law (for example, under GDPR in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), and Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework on iOS. You can review or change your ad consent choice at any time from the Account screen in the app.
Depending on your consent choice, Google AdMob may collect identifiers such as advertising IDs and general usage data to select and measure ads. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.

Your choices
You can use MagicMeter's core features — adding meters and recording readings manually — without ever engaging with ads or AI photo scanning. You can revisit your ad consent choice at any time from the app's Account screen. To request deletion of your account data, contact guido.4thfloor@gmail.com.
You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling stops future collection but does not automatically delete data already transmitted to our providers.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. To exercise these rights, or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, contact guido.4thfloor@gmail.com.
California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. To exercise your CCPA/CPRA rights, contact guido.4thfloor@gmail.com.
International data transfers
Our service providers may process your data outside your country of residence, including outside the EEA. Where applicable law requires safeguards, we rely on appropriate mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or adequacy decisions.
Data retention
- Account and meter data — retained for as long as your account is active, plus 12 months thereafter, unless longer retention is required by law.
- Meter photos — not retained by MagicMeter after AI processing is complete.
- Analytics and crash data — retained for up to 24 months from collection.
- Aggregated and anonymised data — retained indefinitely as it no longer identifies you.
Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational safeguards to protect the information we process. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; if you have concerns, contact us at guido.4thfloor@gmail.com.
Data breach notification
If a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you in accordance with applicable legal requirements, including information about the nature of the breach and steps taken to address it.
Children's privacy
MagicMeter is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact guido.4thfloor@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as MagicMeter changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Previous versions are available on request.
